Four fourth grade classes planted tulips from mid November through early December. The weather cooperated beautifully -- warm temperatures and just enough rain & snow to make the digging easy and to water the bulbs in after we planted them. Our ground is still not frozen. Students asked why Journey North said to plant the tulips 7" deep and the packages the bulbs came in said 6". We also dissected bulbs to see their insides and we put some in the refrigerator for forcing indoors.
