We had to give our bulbs a seven week headstart in the refrigerator before planting them. We planted the tulips on December 18, in our butterfly garden on the eastern side of our campus. The milkweed, cigar plant, and lantana which the butterflies love are still in bloom. We have not yet had a frost, but the weather has dipped into the high 30's one night. Today the temperature is back into the mid 70's. We think our tulips will be in bloom by February 20th.
