My husband Jim and I (Frances) live in Commerce, TX on 2.5 acres on the edge of town. A small creek marks one end of our property which has lots of trees. We leave many areas unmowed to shelter wildlife. We have put out feeders for birds, squirrels, hummingbirds, and raccoons. This summer we had to trap and "relocate" three armadillos who were digging up our flowers and grass. A nesting pair of hummingbirds spent the summer here for the second year in a row. We have about six resident squirrels, robins, cardinals, doves, and lots of other birds. Sometimes we can hear cyotes. We are both nature-lovers and look forward to participating in this project. This summer we will select plants and shrubs that will attract more wildlife to our area. We are also a bed & breakfast and our guests enjoy watching the birds and squirrels. We look forward to hearing from others in this program.
