December 18th was the last day before the holidays at Fields Elementary. Julie Smith, WINGS Teacher, Karen Moses, PE Teacher, and Trilla Cook, Sci. Lab Instructor, took the bird feeders and the squirrel feeder out to our new nature reserve area and butterfly garden. They attached the feeders to a nearby unused utility post. We are so glad that we did this before the holidays, as we have been having unusually cold weather in our area during the past 2 weeks. When we return to school on Monday, Jan. 5, we will post the 2 new signs: FIELDS NATURE CENTER (Unpave the Way for Wildlife) and a BUTTERFLY GARDEN sign. The students will get to take out some sunflower seeds to refill the feeders on Tues., Jan. 6. In the Spring, we will add hummingbird/butterfly feeders!
