Tulips PLANTED

Date: 01/09/1998

Number: 1

My kindergartners planted their tulips today with the help of our 5th grade buddies. It had been rainy and flooding in Austin all week so I was getting concerned about whether we'd be able to get our tulips planted in time. They had been experiencing "winter" in my refrigerator at home and were finally ready to be planted. Today dawned sunny and crisp and we were all very excited to finally be planting (esp. me!) I gave the children "cards" cut to exactly 7 inches to measure their holes and am hopeful that most were planted to the correct depth. In our clay soil, it is difficult even with the tiller to dig down 7 inches.
