Our fifth grade class at Travis Elementary in Pampa, Texas was very concerned that our tulips would not emerge because of lack of moisture for the last two months. The last time we had moisture was on Christmas Eve.
We received .75 inches of rain Sunday and Monday. The tulips emerged on Monday, February 16. Our average temperature this February has been about 50 degrees. Our average low has been much higher than normal. We have been in the middle 30's for a low for several weeks. Our average low is 26 degrees.
We are expecting snow today, but the sun is out. The children are concerned that snow will affect the tulips that have already emerged.
