Had stopped at traffic light yesterday (Fri 20th 1:50 pm) ... two Monarchs floated and circled within six feet as I watched. They passed by from south to north. Probably overwinterers as the migration is still south of the Texas border. Local birders informed me last night that they have observed a few Monarchs all winter in the area. They also report a 95% reduction in our overwintering birds such as hawks, pine siskens, and gold finches ... even yellow-rumps. This is being blamed on El Nino ... the feeling is they stopped further north and further inland than usual this mild winter. I WILL learn to type the lat/long right! Harlen
