We had our winter vacation last week, so we were not here to see our
tulips emerge, but our school custodian, Mr. Preistner, was kind enough to
monitor our bed. Our tulips this year emerged a full week earlier then the
tulips we planted for the 1997 Journey North project (Feb. 26, 1997
emergence). It is also interesting to note that last year's tulips (
planted in Oct. 1996) emerged this year on Feb. 10th, a full eight days
earlier then those we planted last Fall ( October 23, 1997) even though
they are in the same bed area.
