Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 02/22/1998

Number: 1

We have had only a few sunny days this year, but Monday morning the sun was out and I saw a dozen Monarchs dancing in the sunlight, as if to celebrate the sun's return. Monarchs do overwinter here and feed on the local milkweed. For a few weeks in the fall the trees are ladened with them and then we usually have only some. I haven't seen any for months, however. This year we have had so much rain, wind, and storm. I think they have been hiding.
