Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/05/1998

Number: 1

Dear Elizabeth and Julie, We have had monarch butterflies all winter. They numbers are much fewer than in spring and fall but we have seen them and have also seen caterpillars and chrysalis. We have had a very mild winter. None of our milkweed died back. None of the butterfly garden had any winter damage. During one cold spell we did bring several caterpillars inside. Last week there was a definite increase in butterfly activity around our bushes. The wings are not tattered in any way. They are fresh and colorful. Please let us know if we can ever be of help.
