Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 02/01/1998

Number: 1

In 1997 we had monarchs in our yard during: Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, a very few in May, none in Jun or Jul, then again in Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov and Dec. When here, they lay eggs and eat up the milkweed. During the summer, we had many predator wasps which got the young caterpillars unless we grabbed them as eggs and raised them inside.
In 1998 so far, we've had monarchs in: Jan, Feb, a few in Mar (our milkweed was just about gone by the end of Feb and is now beginning to leaf out again). There is a website from St. Petersburg, across the bay from us, called The Florida Monarch Site - they keep a log and it goes back several years: http://adver-net.com
