I was sitting in my den looking out over the water of Lake Weil in the western part of Dutchess county. The lake is only about 30 feet from my window. I saw the eagle coasting slowly over the water approximately 100 feet away. It lande in a tree nearby and stayed for about 1/2 hour during whih I watched it carefully with binoculars. I access some picture of bals eagles on the WWW as I was watching to make sure it was indeed an eagle. I now have an eagle as wallpaper on my windows pc.
