Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/14/1998

Number: 1

12:15, a sunny day at St. Joseph's Academy, High today was in the
high 60s. As I am reporting this on 3/21/98, the weather has changed and last night the low was 36 degrees. High today will be in the 50s. We are anxious to see how this cold snap affects the Monarchs. Our Environmental Science class will start replanting the butterfly garden in a week. Our guess is that most of the earlier sightings were overwintering monarchs. I can remember seeing the last fall one in October in my butterfly garden at home.
