I am guessing that Bonnie and Clyde have already laid eggs, (based on how damped their chests appear when they are preening after leaving the nest and the more vocal defense of their nest). There have been as many as 4 juveniles returning to either visit mom and dad or scout the site. It is rumored that Bonnie and Clyde are known to be more welcoming of their prior offspring. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't noticed that there are 2 different styles of behavior when an "intruder" appears on the seen. Sometimes Bonnie's cry is shrill and sharp while Clyde darts toward the stranger and turns him in his tracks. But more often we here a common "greeting' cry and one or the other will join the "visitor" with a graceful escort through the territory. For the last 3 days there has been a 2-3 year-old pearched on the fir in front of our house and neither Bonnie or Clyde have sought to drive him off.
