I began hearing a robin singing in our yard before dawn on Monday morning, March 23. When I went out to put feed in the feeders I tried to sight it but was unsuccessful. This morning, March 24, he was in plain view and singing at the top of is lungs high in a silver maple tree as if to say, "Here I am!". It's always a great thrill to see the first robin of the year. It reminds me of my youth when we used to stamp our hand saying, "Robin, Robin Red-breast, bring me good luck!" at our first sightings of the season.
