Robin (First SEEN)

Date: 03/25/1998

Number: 1

In just the last week, we've noticed that robins seem to be everywhere. Kids in our class report seeing robins each day, sometimes in small groups (2-4), sometimes in larger groups (12 or more).Today we heard the first really settled territorial sing, that warm-your-heart robin song. Somehow we thought it would all be more gradual, over say 3 weeks to a month, but we have the sense now that the ROBINS ARE HERE, a huge number of them, all settling in to establishing territories. This coincides with a fairly wintery storm (snowcover about 3 inches) and then a sudden warming (up to 70 degrees predicted for tomorrow. How did they know this weather would happen? Did they? The robins we see now are not as jumpy as the robins we saw a week ago.
