All Other Signs of Spring

Date: 04/01/1998

Number: 1

Spring has arrived in southern Maine. This last week of March has been record breaking hot. The temperatures have been as high
as 92 degrees in Portland. The students in my classroom (Mrs. Gallant's Third Grade at Memorial School, New Gloucester, Maine)
have seen and heard little butterflies (Not Monarchs!), peepers in trees, houseflies, misquitoes, spiders, ticks, honets, and black flies! There are little leaf buds and the pussywillows are gone by! They are long thin bushy yellow flowers now. We have also seen many, many robins and their little blue eggs in nests.
