I counted 10 monarchs in a time period of about 4 1/2
hours, beginning around noon local time. I saw 4
flying over an open field, 3 at a local walking track
and 3 others flying over a highway. All the above were
individual sightings. Most were flying
in a northeast to easterly direction, just
above ground to maybe 10-15 feet up, and wing
conditions were generally faded. Weather conditions
were clear with temps in the mid 70's with low
humidity. Winds were S-SW at 10-15 mph.
This years spring migration is down from last year
in my location.
