The Globe and Mail published an article today (Saturday) about the amazing number of whales (in the hundreds) that migrate up the St. Lawrence River to feed (before migrating to mate in tropical and sub-tropical waters). There are 6 species, including fin whales (second largest animal on earth after blue whales). Fins are up to 20 meters in length and weigh 50 tons. In January of this year, the Saguenay/St. Lawrence Marine Park was declared. The six species found here are sperm, minke, humpback, beluga, fin and blue.
