The Barn Swallow-
I spotted the pair of swallows Friday evening in my boathouse. This is the location of many a swallows home.
The timing is great, as the black flies are beginning to hatch.......and this seems to be a diatery supplement, if not a staple.
They dart and dive just over the glacier lake Star Lake's warming water to hopefully devour all the black flies.
It's great to know that there is something being done to combat the black fly population.
I am not sure of the specific species. They have a brownish orange belly and a black almost purple back and wings.
I would like to learn more about birds!
