At 6:45 A.M. our first little female hummingbird was sighted. The gardens are awash with columbine and wild geranium and the last of the lilac and we had hung out a bag of melon and banana peels hoping for fruit flies (Perhaps they only generate inside houses and classrooms where they are not welcome!). Actually I was surprised not to see any hummingbirds before this.
