I was on a canoe trip with students on the St. Croix River on May 19th, and that morning we found a monarch butterfly. It was near Danbury, WI. It was just resting, it was fairly early in the morning, it was a male and he was somewhat faded so that means he was not a newly hatched monarch in the last couple weeks probably. This was my first monarch observed.
