Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/24/1998

Number: 1

Hugh Currie, President of the Toronto Ornithological Club, spotted a monarch butterfly near Havelock, Ontario on Sunday, May 24th. Havelock is located about 45 km directly north of Presqu'ile Provincial Park and the north shore of Lake Ontario, and on the southern edge of the Canadian Shield (at this point, rocky outcroppings thrust themselves out of the soil and you are entering cottage country, with many lakes, rivers, and much mixed forest. Gateway to the north!).
