Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/24/1998

Number: 1

The Monarch season has finally started in NJ. On Sunday May 24 I saw 2
Monarchs bright orange in great condition near Freehold, NJ. They were fast
moving so I was not able to determine the sex. I surveyed over one hundred
Milkweed plants before finding a single egg. This is 3 weeks to one month
later than last year?s observations. The milkweed is as high as 24 inches
with tight flower buds. Also note worthy; there is also new plants just
emerging. The preditors are in place, many plants have a spider, and plenty
of lady bugs present
