Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/23/1998

Number: 1

We were able to watch a beautiful male monarch fly away after
he dried his wings. He had just emerged from his chrysalis earlier in the day and seemed very glad to be on his way. We have spotted very few monarchs in our area recently - the most we have seen in one day was four in a wildflower meadow about 30 miles north of Texarkana. There are still no eggs on the milkweed we have in our garden at school or at home.
