The oddly cool weather of late seems to have delayed the first generation of monarchs in the area a bit. About 1 week. However, on Friday, June 12, at approximately 3 pm I did manage to encounter a fresh looking female monarch nectaring on common milkweed blooms. First generation monarch in southern IL)
This is the first wild monarch I have seen in the past 3 weeks.
