Finally, our first monarch butterfly.
Our school custodian, Don Jenkins, reported sighting a monarch butterfly at his home on June 23. My students indicated that they had seen some monarchs but no one had his/her sightings verified. It has been very warm and humid. The milkweed plants are quite plentiful and many have flowers already. A food shortage does not seem likely.
I have not seen any monarchs yet myself but I hope to see one very soon.
