Observation reported to my by Patti Ensor, Davenport WA, an experienced butterfly observer. The female monarch was attempting to lay eggs on a plant similar to milkweed. Upon landing on the plant and realizing it was not milkweed, it would take flight. Condition was just slightly worn.
