St. John the Baptist School has a courtyard garden that was established during the 1997-98 school year. Many dedicated parents and students worked to make this "dream come true" garden a reality for First Grade teacher, Mrs. Ellen Kennedy.

The garden has three areas of interest -

A butterfly garden:
with nectar and larval plants to attract, Painted Ladies, Monarchs, and Western Tiger Swallowtails

A sensory garden:
with herbs and other plants that students may observe by using
their 5 senses

A native Oregon garden:
with plants that are native to our area

We hope to use our garden as an extension of our school, as an outdoor classroom.
