Signs of Fall

Date: 09/15/1998

Number: 1

Within the last few days, over a dozen ruby-throated hummingbirds have arrived. The hummingbirds looked very thin when arriving. We believe it is because much of the area has been in a drought since last spring and the natural nectar sources are not there. However, with the many feeders, the hummingbirds are quickly becoming plump! With a cool front and north winds predicted later today or tomorrow, we expect the hummingbirds to continue on their way south soon. Hopefully, we will get some more hummingbirds in their place.
