Today I saw three different monarchs pass through my yard, all headed west.
The first was observed at about 11:00 am, and was flitting around my yard and sitting in the mist from my water sprinkler. Then after about a 5 minute stay in my yard the monarch took off to the west, flying about 4 feet off the ground and flew in a very direct manner.
The second monarch appeared about 15 minutes after the first left. The second didn't stop in my yard, but flew past, quickly, about 4 feet off the ground and headed due west.
The third appeared about 2:30 pm, and flitted in the yard in the mist from the sprinkler, much like the first. It only stayed for about 2 minutes, then it too headed west, flying only about 4 feet off the ground.
All three seemed to be very purposeful in their westward flight. Not deviating except for the stops in the sprinkler mist.
