After seeing no more than two monarchs all summer on our butterfly bushes in Bethany, CT, their numbers have increased dramtically to eight today, doubling from four yesterday! Thay are all in perfect condition, and are mostly nectaring, occasionally flying to a nearby tree to hang upside down for a spell. Temperature is in the 80's today, but it should drop into the fifties tonight and stay cooler all week. Seeing a half dozen cartwheeling over my head at once is amazing enough, I can't imagine what thousands might look like!
