Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/16/1998

Number: 1

Since my last report of September 12th we have had rain and partly cloudy weather with periods of sunshine each day with tempratures in the mid 70's to low 80's. I have 18 Buddleia davidi plants in bloom and have not had a single Monarch visitor. My large assortment of New England Asters in my butterfly garden are also in bloom as well as a large "natural area" of Goldenrod species blooming.Yet no Monarchs to be seen. Expect more Monarchs hopefully this weekend based upon the weather forecast and will report my results then.
Just to let you know I have enlisted my friends on the Butterfly Garden board at AOL to participate in the project and you should be getting additional reports from across the Eastern United States any time now. Many of the boards participants have been raising Monarchs all summer. One member has raised and relased over 200 in New Orleans this season with many more still in larval or chrysalis stages.
