Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/18/1998

Number: 1

On 9-10-98 New Orleans had a bad storm with gusty winds and much rain. We had lots of high water filling streets and getting in some homes. We have not seen any monarchs flying around our bushes since this date until today 9-18-98. Today we saw 10 monarchs in 15 minutes. The monarchs were nectaring on budleia and milkweed and visiting the red penta bushes. There are approximately 12 chrysalis hanging from fences and bushes. We also are protecting 9 inside our house and in the children's classrooms at their school. There are many eggs outside on the bushes. Today ther are winds from a tropical storm and light rain. The winds are from the east and NE at 10-20 MPH.
