Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/18/1998

Number: 1

Our class went out early Friday morning to get aquainted with the class garden and the sunflower bed. They saw the gourd, pumpkin and scarlet runner beans growing in spite of no rain. They observed beetles, wasps, spiders, a white butterfly and a very outgoing grasshopper who climbed and hopped for us. Just when it was time to go in, about 10 am on that breezy, sunny dry morning, a Monarch flew overhead in a southerly direction. It was moving fast, but many of the children caught a glimpse. It was a very exciting moment!
