Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/20/1998

Number: 1

We have only seen a few monarchs this week and weekend who don't seem to have any direction in mind as they laze along with the warm, humid air currents. It has been unseasonably warm and humid this week - we are expecting cooler weather on Tuesday.
I found a damaged monarch in the parking lot of a shopping mall last weekend. Other shoppers immediately stopped, showing great concern, and we watched while one fellow gently scooped up the palm-sized flutterer and placed him in a more protected spot away from the traffic. Itwas a heartening moment to see others stop and take a few moments to watch out for these creatures.
