Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/11/1998

Number: 1

We saw 2 Monarchs today (9-11-98). The first was near the Lavaca Bay Causeway moving south. There has been a continued, light but steady, north wind with the tropical weather in the Gulf ... 2 pm, mostly clear, and temp of 90 degrees. The second was flying from our front yard across the street and settled in the top of the neighbors trees about 30 minutes later. We have not seen any in the bed of A. curassavica in the back yard. We have been seeing several swallowtails in the lantana and salvia. The yard has also been full of hummingbirds nectaring on the salvia. We had a report that a Monarch had also been sighted in far south Texas near Donna, Tx. Harlen and Altus
