Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/18/1998

Number: 1

A wounded Monarch was brought into the classroom on Friday, Sept. 18, by one of my Grade 2 girls. I stopped our routine and we discussed what we knew about the butterfly and its life cycle. Many students in this rural area reported recent sightings of great numbers of Monarchs in the fields where they live. What a perfect opportunity to introduce the Journey South adventure the students are about to embark. Natural science, geography, math, language and art are wonderfully bound into one with the Symbolic Migration program. Great nature, great fun!
