Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/07/1998

Number: 1

The monarchs seemed to increase in number throughout the week of September 1st. We had the most in our yard on Labor day. They always come to the giant burr oak trees in our yard. They roost on the dead twigs and look like dried leaves. I saw a lot of them along Highway 30 during that time as well. They were all over the New England asters that are blooming there. Then, Tuesday afternoon it seemed that nearly all of them were gone. We still see single monarchs, but nothing like the numbers we saw over that weekend.
