Signs of Fall

Date: 09/30/1998

Nadine K. from grade 5 at St. Peters School in Trenton reports that there were still quite a few monarchs nectaring again today (September 30) on the purple asters in the field behind her house in Consecon which is just south of Trenton and very close to Presquile Provincial Park. Nadine was able to capture three male monarchs on Tuesday and they were tagged and released to begin their journey south. The weather in Trenton today was a mix of sun and clouds, and the air temperature was +17C. We are expecting a cold front to come through our area within the next day- we will watch to see if the monarchs leave.
