Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/01/1998

Number: 1

For the last two weeks, we think we have been sighting a few monarchs in Stone Mountain. There haven't been many. They are flying very quickly and don't stop long to be identified. Some orange butterflies that we had seen earlier in September were fritillaries, so we wanted to be sure we were seeing monarchs. We think one fluttered through the bus lane one afternoon. Then we have seen them near highways. They always seem to be flying near major roads. We think this is where the plants they like must grow.
