Actually this is a release of 4 butterflies that we raised in our classroom. Earlier, on Sept. 9, 1998 , students released the first 2 monarch butterflies we had raised. Last year we raised and released 11 monarchs. This year I was only able to find seven larvae on my asclepias curassavica. The seventh chrysalis turned almost black,and no mpnarch emerged.
