In their 20 minute count, todays students observed 26.6 monarchs. This compares to 123.4 yesterday.
It looks as if the the Monarchs are still trickling toward Mexico. We counted a whopping 1,344 this week. The weather cooled and the winds were blowing. It was very exciting.
The science experiment worked out well. We used observation skills to watch the Monarchs and rounding and averaging in mathmatics to count. We also used tally marks which we learned about in our
math book. We will continue watching to see if we can bid the last Monarch adios. 40 second and third grade students are participating in this science experiment. If you would like to see the proceedure please let us know.
