Our school, Oak Park Elementary School, planted 250 tulip bulbs today. It was a crisp Minnesota Autumn day. Several classes participated. Our second grade class worked with our 4th grade buddies. We planted our bulbs in our school circle garden. It is a good spot, because it is sunny and there are summer flowers there that have just been blooming. We let our hatched Monarch butterfly escape in this garden in September. We put several bulbs in one hole and we measured 7" deep and 4" apart. We made sure to put the top of the bulb pointing up. It looks like a raindrop, so we are able to tell which is the top and the bottom. After we planted the bulbs, we did our daily exercises and ran with our 4th grade buddies. We have been in "training"since the beginning of the year and several of our classmates outran our buddies. We think they will be in "training" from now on too. We also sent paper Monarchs to Mexico. So we are having fun with the Journey North projects.
