Our class of 46 sixth graders planted 50 Emperor Red Tulips in front of our elementary school around the flag pole. It was a very warm day with temperatures in the 70's on September 25. Students were very careful to plant the tulips the right depth and distance apart. The janitors helped the class get the ground ready by working in bone meal prior to planting. A small fence now surrounds the tulips to keep bicycles and feet from walking on the bulbs.
