Tulips PLANTED

Date: 10/13/1998

Number: 1

We planted tulip bulbs at our school site on Tuesday, 10/13/98. Sixty-eight 5th grade students from 3 classes participated in the planting. Each student planted 1 Darwin Tulip bulb and marked it with a name stick. Planting depth was 6 inches. The site is on the south side of the building, next to a brick wall. It is sheltered but receives ample sunlight during the daylight hours. We are predicting an early bloom because of the warmer environment that a south facing brick wall provides. Following the planting, we had 2 days of gentle but steady rainfall and cooler temperatures. On Friday, October 23, 10 more tulip bulbs of the same variety were planted. The weather that day was unseasonably warm and sunny. The predicted temperature is in the mid to high 60's
