Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/27/1998

Number: 1

Oct 27, 98: The 4th, 7th, and 8th graders have finished tagging, measuring, and releasing 47 monarchs this week. These were raised from eggs deposited in our backyard in late September. Tomorrow we will release another dozen. We will then have only 14 that are still in larvae or chrysalis stage to release later. The flood in Victoria caused the loss of about 10 monarchs. We have discovered some fields of wild A. v. and A.o. in the Victoria area. The past 7 days have had the largest count of migrating coastal monarchs.
