The York News Times reports that there were three whooping cranes that overnighted on wetlands near McCool Junction, Nebraska, about 8 miles south of us. The whoopers were last seen Friday morning. This is a very rare sighting for our area. The major flyway for cranes is about 40-50 miles west of us.
