My class and I observed a small monarch butterfly on Thursday, December 3, 1998. We got as close as we could to observe it before it flew away at 11:30 A.M. It has been unseasonably warm here on Long Island for the month of December. The day of siting was 74 degrees fahrenheit, and the average temps have been 66 degrees fahrenheit.
