Several gray whale sightings the last few days indicate the southerly migration is finally being observed. Gray whales were seen way out on the horizon (5-6 miles) from Cook's Chasm, approx 12 miles south of waldport in the US Forest Service Cape Perpetua Scenic Area and about 10 were seen similarly far out from Yaquina Bay State Recreation Site (Oregon State Parks) by trained volunteers for the Whale Watching Spoken Here program.
